Welcome to a regular feature on the Powertecnique blog. Every Monday we talk you through an A-Z of the terms you hear associated with critical power supplies. In this latest post we’ve reached the letter Q. Q is for QMS (Quality Management System).
Whilst not technically involved in critical power, a QMS is very important for a business to ensure that it is delivering on its promises to its customers.
What is a QMS?
A quality management system is a series of business processes designed to ensure that a company is capable of delivering on its quality objectives & policy. Businesses often set quality objectives to help them understand way’s in which they can improve customer care and ensure that they are delivering a satisfactory service. The quality policy is a series of guidelines and procedures which are designed to help achieve the quality objectives.
When making a purchasing decision it is often worth looking out for businesses which carry the ISO 9001 accreditation as this confirms that the business has an adequate quality management system in place. In order to hold onto and maintain the accreditation, businesses that are 9001 certified must be regularly audited and maintain certain standards of quality.
