Powertecnique’s Eco Range UPS Reduces Total Cost of Ownership
Powertecnique’s Eco Range of uninterruptible power supplies are highly efficient compared to legacy UPS systems. Customers can benefit from this latest technology with energy savings of up to 15%. With these energy savings end users could achieve return on investment within 3 years.
Online double conversion technology with an IGBT input offers an increased efficiency advantage when compared to traditional six and twelve pulse systems. An IGBT rectifier provides a higher input power factor which helps reduce the reactive power, lowering electrical consumption resulting in lower running costs. It also allows for smaller cable cross-sections, associated switchgear, transformer and generator sizing requirements reducing overall installation costs.
Powertecnique’s Eco Range products remain efficient even at at low loads. With many alternative UPS topologies the efficiency drops in proportion to the load; ie. low load = low efficiency = higher running costs.

The eProteq series includes the T (Tower version), R (Rack version) and RT (Dual Rack/Tower version) with models from 600VA to 3000VA. An Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) provides stabilisation from brownouts, sag and surge voltages. EMI filters then provide further protection from spikes and transients. The UPS incorporates protection for PC and network, telephone line/ modem connections (RJ45-RJ11).
The eProteq RT (1.5, 2.2 and 3 kVA) can be placed directly onto the floor or mounted in 19’’ rack mount cabinets. The front panel digital display can be easily pulled out and rotated to suit the installation format. Rack/Tower and Rack versions include an Emergency Power Off (EPO) input contact. All eProteq feature a Cold Start function to allow the UPS to power up with no mains power supply present. The eProteq benefits from:
- Single PowerShare socket for load-shedding of the least critical loads to maximise back up time for the most critical servers.
- Hot swappable battery (front access).
- Additional Battery Boxes (with chargers) are available for the eProteq 2.2 kVA and 3 kVA for long back uptime applications.
- Battery Test facility to detect deteriorating battery performance and failure.
- Deep discharge protection: in the case of low load long discharge periods, the end-of-discharge voltage threshold is increased.

The eKasar is ideal for the protection of critical systems which cannot run the risk of being powered from a poor quality electrical supply.
The eKasar single/three phase input and single-phase output models are available in 10-20 kVA ratings. The three-phase input and output models range from 10-100 kVA. Both models have online double conversion technology according to the VFI-SS-111 classification, as defined by the IEC EN 62040-3 standard.
The eKasar has been designed and manufactured using state of the art technologies in order to deliver maximum protection for critical users, low impact on the mains power supply and a high operating efficiency.
The high level of flexibility at the design stage means that there is full compatibility both with three-phase power and with single-phase sources, thus eliminating any critical factors in the connection between UPS and system.
With a high operating efficiency up to 96.5% the eKasar can provide a 35% saving in dissipated energy usage per annum compared to traditional UPS products (92%). This exceptional performance can lead to a full initial investment recovery within three years.

The eSypher has been designed and manufactured using state of the art technologies in order to deliver maximum protection for critical users and low impact on the mains power supply. As part of Powertecnique’s Eco Range the eSypher has a high operating efficiency.
With online double conversion technology achieved entirely with IGBT and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) control, the eSypher series guarantees maximum protection as well as high quality power for any type of IT or industrial load.
The eSypher is especially suited for mission critical applications and is classed VFI-SS-111 (Voltage and Frequency Independent) in compliance with IEC EN 62040-3 standards. This series has been designed using a new configuration that includes an IGBT rectifier in place of the traditional thyristor rectifier.
An IGBT rectifier provides a higher input power factor which helps reduce the reactive power, lowering electrical consumption resulting in lower runnning costs. It also allows for smaller cable cross-sections, associated switchgear, transformer and generator sizing requirements reducing overall installation costs.
